Hi everyone - no news on the referral front, so I thought I'd post a few links about Pearl S. Buck, the founder of Welcome House - our agency. She was a remarkable woman:
"Our founder was the first woman to win both the Nobel and Pulitzer Prizes. Upon her return to the United States after forty years in China, Ms. Buck dedicated her energy and resources to promoting tolerance, human rights and inter-cultural understanding, as well as fighting the impact that discrimination, prejudice, and bigotry can have particularly on the lives of children." from Pearl S. Buck International Website.

PSBI is comprised of Welcome House, Opportunity House (coordinates child sponsorship), and The Pearl S. Buck House. The grounds at PBSI are really quite beautiful. We are members, so if you ever would like to tour The Pearl S. Buck House, visit the gift shop or attend any of their events, please let me know!

Hi, Amy,
ReplyDeleteWe are also with PSBI and love them! We're about 45 minutes away from the grounds in Northampton County - I try to drive all of my paperwork over there because it's just so pretty. Love the house at Christmas time!
So glad you started a blog. Looking forward to hearing about your referral sometime very soon, I hope! We were just 10 months last week, so we've got a while yet.
Take care,
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer - thanks for your post. PSBI is great, isn't it. Please feel free to email me anytime at amy.layman@comcast.net. I hope your wait time goes quickly - perhaps things will speed up for you with the changes the legislation made earlier in '09. Best wishes!
